How to Install a Lace Front Wig
Step 1: Prep Your Hair
Slick back your natural hair or braid it down. Put on a wig cap to flatten your base and protect your hair.
Cornrow or slick your natural hair back using gel or braids.
Put on a wig cap to protect your edges and flatten your base.
Step 2: Clean the Hairline & Prep the Wig
Use rubbing alcohol to gently clean your forehead and hairline. This helps the glue stick better.
Place the wig on your head and align it with your natural hairline.
Adjust ear tabs and ensure the lace covers the front completely.
Trim excess lace from ear to ear using small, precise scissors.
Step 3: Fit the Wig & Trim the Lace
Place the wig on your head to test the fit. Trim excess lace along your hairline using scissors.
Step 4: Apply Adhesive (Optional)
Apply a gentle adhesive such as Ebin lace spray, gel, or tape around the perimeter of your hairline. Let the adhesive become tacky (use a blow dryer on cool for faster results).
Step 5: Secure the Lace
Gently press the lace into the adhesive, starting from the center and working toward the ears.
✂️ Step 6: Tie It Down
Use a silk scarf or our Mane MD melting band to tie down the wig edges for 10–15 minutes. This sets the adhesive and melts the lace.
Step 7: Final Styling
Remove the Mane MD melting band and style the wig. Use hot combs, baby hairs, or makeup to blend as needed.
Tips for a Flawless Finish:
Use a hot comb to flatten the top for a natural scalp look.
Use very minimal concealer in the parting line to mimic a real scalp.
Always remove the wig gently with water to protect your edges.
