Will the curls revert back after I color, bleach, straighten, or wash the hair?
Yes, our raw hair is 100% natural and behaves just like your own hair would. All of our wavy and curly textures are steam-free and will revert back to their natural curl pattern after washing, even after straightening.
Coloring is also possible with our raw hair. We strongly recommend having it colored by a professional colorist to preserve the integrity of the hair. Pro Tip: If coloring at home, use a higher volume developer in shorter increments to minimize damage and maintain curl retention.
+
How often should I wash my wig or bundles?
For curly textures, we recommend co-washing (using conditioner only) at least 3 times a week to maintain moisture and definition. For wavy and straight textures, a gentle conditioner wash once a week or as needed is typically sufficient, depending on product buildup or styling.
Always follow with a leave-in conditioner or lightweight oil to keep your raw hair soft, hydrated, and manageable.
+
How do I maintain my Mane MD wig or extensions?
Treat your unit like natural hair. Detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb or fingers, co-wash regularly with sulfate-free conditioner, and avoid product buildup. Store your wig on a mannequin head or silk bag to maintain its shape.
+
Can I sleep in my wig or wear it daily?
Absolutely. While we recommend removing your wig at night when possible, you can sleep in it with a satin bonnet or scarf and a silk pillowcase to reduce friction. Daily wear is safe with proper care and maintenance.
+
What products should I use to style my wig?
Stick to lightweight, non-greasy products. We recommend leave-in conditioners, curl creams, heat protectants, and alcohol-free styling gels. Avoid heavy oils or anything that causes buildup.
+
How long will my Mane MD extensions last?
With proper care and maintenance, your Mane MD extensions can last several years. Our raw hair is sourced for longevity and quality, making it a long-term investment in your hair journey.
+

What’s the difference between raw hair and virgin hair?
Raw hair is 100% unprocessed human hair, collected from a single donor and never chemically treated. It’s the most natural and long-lasting option. Virgin hair is also unprocessed, but may have undergone light steam processing for texture. All Mane MD units use premium raw or virgin hair, depending on your chosen style.

What is a hair topper?
A hair topper is a lightweight hair piece designed to add coverage and volume to areas of thinning or hair loss on the crown or top of the head — most commonly where female pattern baldness occurs. Unlike full wigs, toppers only cover a portion of the scalp, making them a natural-looking solution that blends seamlessly with your own hair.
They’re also known as crown toppers, wiglets, or top pieces, and are part of the "alternative hair" family — meaning the hair you wear isn’t your own, but still looks and feels incredibly natural. Each piece is secured with discreet clips and is easy to apply, remove, and style, making it a popular choice for clients seeking a non-invasive solution to early-stage hair loss.
+
Are all Mane MD hair toppers made from human hair?
Yes, all of our hair toppers are made from 100% high-quality human hair. We carefully source real, unprocessed strands to ensure a natural look, soft texture, and seamless blend with your own hair.
Unlike synthetic options, human hair toppers can be heat styled, colored, and typically last twice as long with proper care. Each piece is designed for comfort, durability, and a flawless finish.

How do i choose the best base material for my topper?
Choosing the right hair topper depends on your coverage needs, comfort preferences, and desired level of realism. The most important factor is the base construction, which determines how the topper looks and feels when worn.
Here's a quick guide to help you choose:
-
Silk Base
Also known as silk toppers, this type offers the most natural-looking scalp appearance. Hair is hand-tied and knotted beneath a silk layer, so it appears to grow directly from the scalp. Most Mane MD toppers feature a silk top for a flawless, undetectable finish. The bottom layer is often monofilament or lace for added breathability and comfort. -
Lace Base
Lace toppers are the second most natural-looking option and are highly valued for their lightweight, breathable feel. Lace is soft against the scalp and ideal for warmer climates or clients with sensitive skin.
-
Monofilament toppers
Monofilament toppers are known for their durability and versatility. Each strand is hand-tied into a sheer mesh base that mimics natural hair growth. Many mono toppers also include a PU (polyurethane) perimeter to reinforce the edges and prevent tearing over time.
Still unsure? Book a virtual consultation and we’ll help you choose the perfect topper for your needs.

How Do I Measure My Head for a Wig?
To ensure the best fit, you'll want to take six key measurements with a soft measuring tape:
-
Circumference
Wrap the tape around your hairline, starting at the front of your forehead and going behind the ears to the nape of your neck.
-
Front to Nape
Measure from your front hairline, over the crown, to the nape of your neck.
-
Ear to Ear (Across Forehead)
Measure from one ear to the other across the forehead.
-
Ear to Ear (Over Top)
Measure from ear to ear over the crown.
-
Temple to Temple (Across Back)
Start at one temple, go around the back of your head, and end at the opposite temple.
-
Nape of Neck
Measure the width of your neck at the base (where your neck meets your scalp).

How Do I Measure My Scalp Area for a Topper?
Toppers are designed to cover specific areas of thinning. To find the right size: Identify the area of hair loss or thinning.
Use a soft tape measure to measure the width (ear to ear) and length (front to back) of the area.
Add ½ to 1 inch to each measurement so the clips can anchor to healthy hair around the area.
