Wig Care 101: Washing & Maintenance
Keep your Mane MD wig flawless, fresh, and long-lasting with proper care.
đ ď¸ What Youâll Need:
Wig stand or mannequin head
Wide-tooth comb or Hair brush
Sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner
Towel (preferably microfiber)
Spray bottle with water (optional)
Leave-in conditioner or Biosilk hair serum
Detangler (optional)
Blow dryerÂ
Step 1: Detangle Gently
Use a wide-tooth comb or wig brush to gently detangle from ends to roots. Be extra gentle with lace fronts.
Step 2: Rinse with Cool to Lukewarm Water
Hold the wig under running water from root to tip. Avoid soaking or twisting the wig.
Step 3: Shampoo in a Downward Motion
Apply a small amount of sulfate-free shampoo. Gently smooth it through the hair in a downward motion. Donât rub or scrub.
Step 4: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse under cool water until all shampoo is removed. Always rinse in the same direction the hair flows.
Step 5: Condition & Detangle Again
Apply conditioner (avoiding the roots/knots on lace wigs). Let sit for 5 minutes, then detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
Step 6: Towel Blot to Dry
Pat the wig dry with a microfiber towel. Do not wring or twist.
Step 7: Air Dry on a Stand
Place the wig on a mannequin head or wig stand and let it air dry. For human hair wigs, you may use a blow dryer on low heat.
Step 8: Apply Leave-In or Hair Serum
Once dry, apply a lightweight hair serum (recommended Biosilk hair serum) or leave-in conditioner to restore shine and softness.
Step 9: Store Properly
Store your wig on a stand in a cool, dry place. Cover with your Mane MD satin bag to maintain style and prevent tangles.
Extra Tips:
Wash every 8â10 wears (or more often if exposed to sweat or heavy styling products).
We do not recommended sleeping or showering in your wig.
